Mary M. Campbell

November 14, 2010

Rev. Mary M. Campbell 81 years, of Lebanon, passed away on November 6, 2010 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana.  She was born on July 2, 1929 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of the late Max Millard Raab and Margaret Mae (Spinks) Lockwood. Rev. Campbell was married to Rev. David Anderson Campbell at St. Francis Episcopal Church in Zionsville, Indiana on May 27, 1978.  Rev. Campbell died later that year.  Mary was one of the first women in Indiana ordained to the priesthood.  She was reared and educated in Indianapolis, a graduate of Short Ridge High School and Canterbury College in Danville, IN.  She received Master's degrees from Butler University and the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee.  Mary's career included being a Guidance Counselor at Zionsville High School and later, at Manual and Crispus Attucks High Schools in Indianapolis.  She then was a pastor and served the St. Peter Episcopal Church in Lebanon, until retiring in 1994.  She loved to read, share the word of God and take trips with her friends and family.  She was member of the Indianapolis Episcopal Carrillo Community. Memorial Services will be held to celebrate her life on Saturday, November 20, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at All Saints Episcopal Church, 1559 Central Ave., Indianapolis, IN, with a reception immediately following at the church.  Officiating will be the The Right Reverend Catherine Waynick.  Survivors include her cousins, Mr. John F. Collom and wife, Beverly Lowell, Indiana and Mrs. Laura Henneberry and husband, William, Jr. Indianapolis, Indiana, second cousins: Nick Collom, Natalie Collom, and Katelyn Collom, five step children, James Campbell, Bruce Campbell, Scott Campbell, Karen Juday, Cathy McRee and Amy SamKutty. She was preceded in death by one brother, George Lockwood.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to All Saints Episcopal Church in Indianapolis or to St. Peters Episcopal in Lebanon.  Myers Mortuary in Lebanon, IN is in charge of the arrangements.  On Line Condolences:
